Is It Really Possible To Effectively Test Advertising With Just $2?
Short answer? It’s not only possible, but IMHO anyone that’s not (testing their ad’s with a couple of $) must have rocks in their head for not taking advantage of it. Why?
Because they’re literally flushing hundreds if not thousands of dollars straight down the toilet every time their ad’s go to print. Give me one good reason you would spend your cold hard cash without testing (for peanuts) first when that’s a readily available option?
Come on hit me with your best reason, I’ve got to hear it!
I have been talking about $1.00 & $2.00 Facebook ad’s for a while, but for some reason quite a few people still aren’t getting it.
I can only put it down to 1 of 2 things…
- They’re either not sure how it all works, and they’re to afraid to admit to that.
- They don’t believe it’s possible.
What’s the catch with $2 Ad Testing?
The catch is you have to spend $2.00, that’s it. I mean for f#cks sake, are people seriously that paranoid about giving Facebook a couple of bucks?
I have literally had people tell me that “it can’t be that easy, there must be some sort of a catch”.
That mentality blows my mind. If they’re that sure it can’t be done you’d reckon they would at the very least spend a couple of dollars to try and prove me wrong.
I mean I am talking about seriously significant savings here, so you would think it would be worth their effort to try it, just so they could be 100% certain they weren’t missing out on something?
Hell I have even offered to give some of them the $2.00 to get started, yet they still can’t bring themselves to do it.
The stupidity of it all is
The exact same people will fork over hundreds of dollars for print ads (that they will admit themselves they have no clue whether they’re actually working or not ) without blinking an eye because wait for it.
That’s what we have always done. You have to get your name out there right?
You have been lied to for years
If the above sounds like something that you’ve been doing up until this point, don’t feel bad about it.
The marketing industry has to be one of the worst industries that there is for dishing up dreadful advice (designed to line the pockets of the people delivering it) that literally wastes billions of small business owners dollars world wide every single year.
It’s not your fault that you have been misguided and manipulated into thinking like that.

Advertisement One
- The Budget: $2.00
- The Reach: 188 people
- The Result: It was a dud
Although this post bombed, I believe it can be turned around with a couple of simple tweaks.
- Change the headline.
- Move some sentences around.
- Make the copy speak more clearly to the person it’s targeted at.
This is how I am going to rewrite this post…

This post got interaction, albeit very small, so I am going to make 1 simple tweak to it. Swap the first two sentences (and a little of the copy) around so it reads like this…

That’s a really stupid question right?” Of course you would want to know that!

This post was running to the same training as above in advertisement two. Again the headline and the copy just weren’t specific enough.
The only thing I am going to re-use from this post is the image. That way I can test the two images (from advertisements 2 & 3) against each other and see which one gets a better response.

- The Budget: $1.00
- The Reach: 119 people
- The Result: 2 photo clicks & 3 likes

- The Result: 3 link clicks, 20 video plays, 13 other clicks, 1 new page liker.

Let’s take a look at what I have achieved here.
- I tested 5 different advertisements with just $9.00
- I had the results back within a few days.
If I had gone to a newspaper to test the same thing I would be looking at least $750.00 for the ad’s and it could literally take weeks to see any results.
Another point worth mentioning. I can’t get those video views in a newspaper or magazine. I mean what is a couple of minutes of your customers attention worth to you?
A couple of minutes where you can literally demonstrate to them how well your products work. I also now have a way of deliberately targeting the people that interacted with my first advertisement.
I could spend my time (like many Facebook Page Owners) bitching and moaning about paying for my likers to see my posts, or I can look at it like this.
I just literally saved myself hundreds of dollars in ineffective advertising with how much risk?
$9.00 that’s it. The price of two cups of long black (my favourite coffee)!
Would you stand at a coffee shop that you’ve never been into before and agonise over whether you’re actually going to get your $9 worth if you buy two cups of coffee?
Of course you wouldn’t. Why? Because the risk is minimal.
We’ve all had really bad cups of coffee. What do you do when that happens? Â You just get over it and move on right? You should carry that exact same attitude across to your advertising.
As you can see above some ad’s work some don’t. Â It’s simple a matter of testing them cheaply and working out which ones are which. It ain’t rocket science.
